Introducing Jo's new articles
Hello, and welcome to Jo’s Latest Articles — the new home for the advice, ideas and occasional ramblings I’ve gathered after 20 years of helping customers with bras, breast enhancers, breast forms and all the wonderfully individual ways our bodies refuse to behave like a tidy size chart.
A great deal of what I know has come from working with these products every day, but just as much has come from my customers: the questions you ask, the fitting problems we puzzle through together and the conversations that begin with, “This might sound like a strange question…” It very rarely is. Bodies are complicated, bras are surprisingly uncooperative little structures, and standard fitting advice does not always have much to say to anyone whose proportions fall outside the supposedly standard pattern.
This is where I’ll be sharing more of what I’ve learned.
Why have I started a new article section?
My website provider, Create, has introduced a new blogging system, but unfortunately there is no magic button that carries all my existing posts across. That would have been far too easy.
I didn’t want to lose years of useful advice, customer stories and the occasional interesting detour, so my original blog will remain available as the Older Articles Archive. Everything I write from now on will live here instead.
What will I be writing about?
You can expect honest, practical articles about bras, breast enhancers, silicone bra inserts and breast forms, along with fitting advice for different bodies, clothing and personal aims. I’ll also be writing about asymmetry, changing bodies, body confidence and the subjects my trans and non-binary customers often need help with but may struggle to find discussed clearly and respectfully elsewhere.
Some articles will begin with a particular customer question. Others will come from noticing the same problem appearing repeatedly — a bra cup that gapes, an insert that works beautifully in one bra and looks completely wrong in another, or a size chart that appears to have been designed for a body nobody has ever actually met.
I won’t pretend that one answer works for everybody, because it almost never does. Band size, breast shape, body proportions, bra construction, comfort and what you personally want to achieve all matter. My aim is to explain the options properly, including their limitations, so you can make a more confident decision for your own body rather than being told there is one “correct” solution.
Useful articles from the original blog
While this new section grows, there is already plenty to explore in the Older Articles Archive. These are some of the posts I think are particularly worth keeping easy to find.
Bra Sizing Without the Tears: Bra Fit, Bra Shapes & Why Sizes Vary
Bra sizing ought to be simple. You take two measurements, consult a chart and emerge with the perfect bra. Sadly, bras have never read that memo. This article looks at why the same labelled size can fit very differently between bras, and why changing the shape or construction may sometimes help more than changing the number on the tag.
Bra Inserts, Chicken Fillets and Breast Forms: What’s the Difference?
These names are often used interchangeably online, despite the products being intended for quite different bodies and purposes. This article explains the distinctions and helps you work out which type of product you may actually need.
Breast Enhancer Options for Small Breasts
A practical look at choosing bra inserts for a smaller bust, including the effect of band size, available cup space and bra style. A tiny insert is not always the best choice for a small bust, just as a larger insert is not automatically going to produce a larger-looking result. The bra has rather more influence than it is usually given credit for.
Wedding Dress Bra Inserts and Breast Enhancers
Wedding and occasion dresses have their own special talent for creating fitting problems that did not appear in the changing room. This article looks at adding shape, filling an awkward bodice and choosing inserts that work with the dress rather than making the whole arrangement feel like an engineering project.
My article about Caroline Cossey, whose modelling career, public outing and fight for legal recognition made her an important figure in trans history.
From Self-Destruct to Daylight: Paige’s Story
A moving guest article from Paige about fear, self-discovery and finally allowing herself to be seen. It is personal, honest and very much worth preserving.

Coming first for the new articles section: bras for larger bodies with smaller breasts
The first substantial subject I’m publishing here began with a customer who was struggling to find bras for a larger body and band size with comparatively small breasts. It quickly became clear that the problem was much bigger than simply locating a large band with a small cup attached. There was far too much useful information to force into one enormous article, so I divided it into two connected parts.
Part One focuses on finding a better-fitting bra. It looks at sizing, cup shape, bra styles, brands, alterations and the practical compromises that may be needed when the ideal size is not widely made.
Part Two looks at breast enhancers as one possible option for anyone who would like to fill the upper cup, improve the shape of a bra or create a little more balance. They are a choice, not a correction, and nobody needs to change their body simply because the lingerie industry has failed to design for it properly.
Together, those articles are a good example of what I want this new section to offer: detailed, realistic advice based on the problems people actually bring to me, with room for nuance rather than a quick answer designed to fit into three tidy bullet points.
I hope these articles help you understand your choices, feel less alone in whatever difficulty brought you here. I am glad you found me and you are very welcome here.
There will be plenty more to come.
